Fossil Collecting Trip to Leckhampton Hill
Friday 9th April; Meet at Leckhampton Hill Car Park at 11.00
You don’t have to go all the way to Dorset to collect Jurassic Fossils, they are practically on our own doorstep. OK, don’t expect huge dinosaurs, but you can expect to find bivalves and other shells from when Leckhampton Hill was part of an undersea world. You will also be able to see fine views of Cheltenham and the Severn Valley, as well as the Devil’s Chimney.
Places are limited, so please book online or at Hatton Bug Zoo. Once booking is made, we will then send you directions to the meeting point. You will need to make your own way to Leckhampton Hill, which is easy by car. We shall be parking in the top car park, so therefore, although there is a certain amount of walking, the ground is relatively flat, unless of course you want to walk all the way to the bottom of the hill!!!
You will need to bring along a packed lunch including drinks, suitable outdoor clothing for all weathers, polythene bags or similar for any fossils found and a sturdy bag to carry home anything found (fossils can weigh quite heavy!!) Please do not bring any hammers as they are not permitted on site.
Cost per person: £7.50
